Quotations
With the Quotations skill active, the agent works out in the chat how much the customer would pay per month for a financed vehicle. It takes the price from the catalog, the down payment the customer proposes and your brand's credit terms, and replies with the monthly payment for each term. If configured, it also sends the quote as a PDF with the month-by-month payment schedule.
The chat and the PDF use the same calculation: the payment the customer reads in the conversation is the same one in the document.
Who configures it
Quotations only appears on accounts enabled by Keybe, and its values are set by the Keybe team. If you need to change the rate, the minimum down payment or the legal note, contact your Keybe representative.
What data it uses
The agent builds each quote with data from three places. If a key piece is missing, it does not make it up: it asks the customer.
| From | What it takes |
|---|---|
| The catalog | The vehicle's price and currency, and its financing offer if it has an active, current one. The offer carries its own discounted price, rate, minimum and maximum down payment, terms, bank and validity. See Prices and offers. |
| Your brand's configuration | The settings in the table below. |
| The conversation | The vehicle the customer is interested in, the down payment they propose (as an amount or a percentage) and the term they choose. |
Your brand's configuration
| Setting | What it defines |
|---|---|
| Minimum down payment (%) | The floor for the down payment. If the customer does not propose one, the quote uses this. |
| Annual interest rate (%) | The rate used to calculate the payment. The customer does not see it. |
| Opening commission (%, optional) | Calculated on the amount to finance and added to the loan. |
| VAT on interest (%) | The tax on interest, by country: for example, 19% in Colombia or 16% in Mexico. |
| Ask for the term (yes / no) | On: the agent asks for the term and quotes only that one. Off: it compares all of them. |
| Send PDF (yes / no) | Off: the payment is given only in the chat. |
| Legal note (text) | The legal text included in the PDF. |
The rate is nominal, not effective
The quoting engine divides the annual rate by 12, that is, it treats it as a nominal rate. If the bank gives it to you as an effective annual rate, convert it before configuring it: for example, 12% effective annual equals 11.39% nominal annual. If the effective rate is entered as is, the payment comes out slightly higher than the bank's.
The currency
The quote is always in the currency the vehicle has in the catalog: if the price is loaded in Colombian pesos, the down payment, the monthly payment and the payment schedule are in Colombian pesos. The agent does not convert between currencies, and if the customer proposes the down payment as an amount, it is taken in that same currency.
The currency does not change the formula. What changes by country is the VAT on interest, configured separately for your brand: for example, 19% in Colombia, 16% in Mexico, or 0% if it does not apply in your country.
If the payment comes out in an unexpected currency
Check the vehicle's currency in the Catalog: that is where the quote takes it from.
How the payment is calculated
The payment is fixed: the customer pays the same amount every month (French amortization). It comes from this formula:
Payment = C × r × (1 + r)ⁿ ÷ ((1 + r)ⁿ − 1)- C, loan principal: price − down payment + opening commission.
- r, monthly rate with VAT: (annual rate ÷ 12) × (1 + VAT).
- n, term in months: 24, 30, 36, 48, 60 or 72.
A worked example
Pick a currency to see the same example with typical values for each country. The values are illustrative: each brand configures its own.
A $100.000.000 COP vehicle, with a 20% minimum down payment, a 12% annual rate, no opening commission, 19% VAT and a 60-month term. The customer did not propose a down payment.
- Price used: $100.000.000. The catalog price. If the vehicle has a current financing offer, the discounted price is used instead.
- Down payment: 20% = $20.000.000. The customer did not propose one, so the minimum is used.
- Loan principal: $80.000.000. $100.000.000 − $20.000.000. If your brand charges an opening commission, it is added here and financed within the loan: at 2%, the principal would be $81.600.000.
- Monthly rate: 1.19%. 12% ÷ 12 = 1% per month; with VAT, 1% × 1.19 = 1.19%.
- Monthly payment: $1.873.093 COP over 60 months.
With the same data, the term comparison the customer receives looks like this:
| Term | Monthly payment |
|---|---|
| 24 months | $3.851.621 |
| 30 months | $3.186.598 |
| 36 months | $2.745.102 |
| 48 months | $2.197.371 |
| 60 months | $1.873.093 |
| 72 months | $1.660.478 |
The payment schedule
The payment does not change, but how much of it is interest and how much goes to principal does. The PDF includes the full table for the term the customer chose; if they did not choose one, the table for the longest term.
| Column | How it is calculated |
|---|---|
| Ordinary interest | Balance × monthly rate without VAT |
| Estimated VAT | Interest × VAT % |
| Principal payment | Payment − interest − VAT |
| Closing balance | Balance − principal payment |
This is how the example's $1.873.093 COP payment splits:
| Month | Interest | VAT | Principal | Closing balance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $800.000 | $152.000 | $921.093 | $79.078.907 |
| 2 | $790.789 | $150.250 | $932.054 | $78.146.852 |
| 3 | $781.469 | $148.479 | $943.146 | $77.203.706 |
| … | ||||
| 60 | $18.511 | $3.517 | $1.851.066 | $0 |
- The first payment is due on the 1st of the month after the quote.
- At the start, interest weighs more; at the end, almost the whole payment goes to principal. The last one leaves the balance at exactly 0.
- Figures are rounded, so a row may be off in the last digit.
Rules that change the result
The financing offer takes precedence
If the vehicle has an active, current financing offer, the calculation uses the discounted price, and the rate, the minimum and maximum down payment and the terms come from the offer. The opening commission and VAT are still your brand's. If there are several offers, the one with the biggest discount wins; cash offers do not count.
The down payment has a floor and a ceiling
If the customer proposes less than the minimum, it is raised to the minimum; if they propose more than the offer's maximum or the price, it is lowered to the cap. If they give an amount, it is kept exactly and the percentage is only reported. The agent remembers the down payment throughout the conversation and uses the last one the customer mentioned.
Compare terms or ask for one
By default, the agent compares all available terms. With Ask for the term on, it asks first and calculates only that one. A term outside the offer's range is not quoted: the agent states the range and asks for another.
No vehicle, no figures
The agent quotes the vehicle the customer names in their message or, if they name none, the last one discussed in the conversation. If there is none yet, it asks which one they are interested in before giving any number.
The numbers come from the quoting engine
The agent does not estimate, approximate or recalculate on its own: it repeats what the quoting engine calculated. If the data does not change, it does not generate a new PDF.
With the skill off
If Quotations is not active, the agent does not calculate payments: it books an appointment or hands the conversation to an advisor, depending on your account's configuration. The only thing it can mention is the minimum down payment.
What the customer sees
In the chat:
- The vehicle and its price. With an offer: the list price, the offer price and how much they save.
- The down payment, as a percentage and as an amount.
- The amount to finance.
- The monthly payment for each term.
The PDF adds the opening commission (if any), the term comparison, the month-by-month payment schedule and your brand's legal note.
What is not shown:
- The interest rate. It does not appear in the chat or in the PDF, although it is included in every payment. If the customer asks for it, the agent explains that it depends on their credit profile and the bank's approval, and that the payment it already gave includes it.
- Total interest and the total cost of the loan, which are not given in the chat.
Reference figures
The payment does not include insurance or other bank charges, and it is subject to credit approval.
If the payment does not match the bank's
It is almost always one of these three:
- The rate was entered as effective annual. The quoting engine treats it as nominal; see the warning in Your brand's configuration.
- The bank adds insurance or other charges. The agent's payment does not include them.
- There is a current financing offer. With an offer, the rate and terms are the offer's, not your brand's general ones.
If your brand has its own quoting tool
If your brand already uses its own quoting tool integrated with the platform, this formula does not apply: the price, the calculation and the document come from your tool, and the agent only sends the customer the link.
